What Books I'm Taking On Holiday!

I mentioned in my last post (My August Goals) that I wanted to get back on track with reading books. I have also said before that whilst I do enjoy reading, I can find it difficult to read at home without getting distracted. So the best time for me to get through some books is when I am on holiday. I always try to read at least two books when I am on holiday to at least try and make up for my atrocious lack of reading throughout the year - and when I say this, I am talking about novels, I do read the newspaper, two monthly magazines and blog posts. I am not that terrible I promise! I am going on two 'one week' holidays so hopefully by the end of the last one, I can put these back on my shelves as finished.

It was recently Emily's 200th birthday and I was talking to my youngest sister about all the books the Bronte sister's wrote, and it got me thinking about reading Wuthering Heights again. I had to read it for a sixth form book club, but I don't really remember too much about it and finding it a bit confusing.

However, now I am no longer doing my A-Levels and instead relaxing on a beach, I hope to get through it a bit easier, and understand it a bit better. It is a 'classic', so I really do feel like I should finally get this properly red.

Eleanor Oliphant Is Completely Fine by Gail Honeyman
This was the last book that I was trying to read before my 'At Least One Book A Month' resolution fell to pieces. It then given to my aunt to read and then I just never picked it up again. So I brought it with me. I might have to start it all over again, just because it is quite a hard book to get into, but hopefully I will now be able to get through it.

Since then, I have heard more mixed reviews about this book, so it will be interesting to see on which side of the scale it falls on for me.

NB. Now when you are reading this paragraph, I am now on holiday. Whilst in the airport, I picked up The Tattooist of Auschwitz by Heather Morris from WHSmith. It was in the best-sellers section and my history nerd sprung out as the Second World War and Nazi Germany are the areas of history that I find most interesting to study. This is the second ficition book that I've read that features Auschwitz, the first being The Boy In The Striped Pyjamas, but is the first since I visited Auschwitz back in 2012. It is such a harrowing and thought-provoking place, and is making the book havethat much more impact as when it references specific parts of the camp, I can visualize it better, as I can remember stepping inside those parts. It is also based on a true story. I have started with this book first.

So hopefully by the end of the month, these books will be read and I can start September fresh with some new books. If you have any recommendations for future books I should read, or your own thoughts on these books (but please, no spoilers!), let me know in the comments below.

I know this post was quite short and sweet, but today is the last day before I leave for holiday (I'm writing this post on Saturday 4th), and I've got a million other things to do before I leave! Once I am home, longer content will be back!

    1. My dad is reading Eleanor Oliphant at the moment so it will be a while until I get that, but hopefully I will finish the other two!
