Saving Winter Lips: A Spring Update

Back in December, I wrote a post all about my favourite lip balms. Since then, there have been a few changes and some new entries. As a person who wears a lot of matte lipsticks, and gets quite dry lips after a cold, caring for my lips with a good lip balm is very important. I won't go on too much about the lip balms that were featured in the previous post as I don't want to be too repetitive. All of these lip balms are under £10 and are pretty decent for their price. Now although it is technically spring, recently here in the UK we were hit with two spouts of freezing winds and snow (as called by the weather forecasters, 'The Beast From The East, 1 & 2) so it has felt like the winter is ongoing. Thankfully, it is now starting to warm up a tiny bit! So read on to find what lip balms I use to keep protecting my lips from the weather!

Saving Winter Lips - April

I still think this is a pretty great lip balm, and is really easy for every day use. It is also great for quickly moisturising the lips quickly before putting on lipstick - it isn't too thick so you don't have to wait for ages.

These days I tend to only use the Sweet Mint flavour, if you read the previous post I also have the Blueberry Acai one too. It's a great lip balm to just chuck in your bag if you are going out, and you don't have to worry about washing your hands before you put your finger in!

Pixi Shea Butter Lip Balm
There are some days when I cannot be bothered with wearing lipstick. Now this is rare as I am a lipstick lover (I have had to split my lipstick collection into two boxes in my make-up table), but if I am running late or I am just feeling lazy, I will often go for the Pixi lip balm.

This lip balm leaves a hint of colour on the lips. Now it isn't super moisturing in comparison to the other lip balms, but that's because it feels more like a sheer lipstick. You can get this in six shades, so there might be a colour for you!

Vaseline Lip Therapy Rosy Lips
A name synonymous with lip balm. I have been using Vaseline on and off for years. I like the Rosy Lips one the best as like the Pixi, it adds some sheer colour to the lips as well. Vaseline is great for healing dry lips, and the rest of the brand has great skincare items.

Now this lip balm is also great for another reason, well the original one anyway. In the summer, I suffer from hayfever and although I always take an allergy tablet, one tip that my dad gave me who is also a hayfever sufferer, is to apply some Vaseline to the inside of your nose. Gross I know, but it makes a difference as it catches any pollen trying to go up your nose!

Nuxe RĂªve de Miel Ultra-Nourishing Lip Balm
If you follow me on Instagram, you might have seen my previous post about this lip balm. Now a few years ago, I don't think I would have spent £10 on a lip balm, after using this, I would consider it. I bought this at the Birchbox Subscriber's Event where I got 20% off, and I have used it everyday since.

In the last week of March, I was hit with a cold. Whenever I get a cold, I tend to get a very dry and sore upper lip, mainly from having to wipe my nose so much. Even before the cold had left my system, this lip balm had completely healed the dryness. So whilst it seems a little pricey, it is definitely worth every penny.

I am sorry that this post is a day late but I hope you had a good Easter weekend, or if you don't celebrate Easter, a lovely weekend!

What are your favourite lip balms to help heal and protect your lips?

    1. The EOS balms are great, such a handy shape too! Pixi is a great brand but it is harder to find than the other brands in this post I find.

  2. I'd like to give that sheabutter one a try. It seems nice. Overall I'm rather boring and also use vaseline to protect my lips. I only get dry lips on really really cold days or hot summer days. So I guess that is my luck right now :)

    1. The Pixi lip balms are great, they are not the most moisturising but they are great for a sheer colour of the lips!

  3. My lips can get so dry and it's so annoying. I haven't tried any of these products. I really like Maybeline Baby Lips Dr. Rescue. It's minty and makes my lips so soft. x

    1. My sister was a big fan of the Baby Lips but I've never tried them! I do like the packaging though.

  4. I'm a mix between using Vaseline, Maybelline Baby Lips, and the Clarins Lip Oil. I love the lip oil, but it is expensive and I'm not sure how quickly I'll be able to repurchase it once it is one. The Baby Lips I've used on and off for years, and I love that since it also leaves a slight tint on your lips!

    1. I think it is always handy to have a few favourites - means that there is always one that is not empty to use! I was also hesitant about buying the NUXE balm as it is pricey too for a lip balm, but when you know how good it is, sometimes you just have to bare the cost!

    1. The weather is just playing havoc, now it is super warm and the pollen count is increasing - going from one week where I needed lip balm on everyday thanks to cold weather, and now I need to use my Vaseline to help with my hayfever! Nuts!

  6. I love Carmex, and I use vaseline too as I find it so moisturing - also I'm the same as you and use it on my nose when I'm hayfevery! Haven't tried the Pixi one but it sounds handy to have if you aren't wearing lipstick!
