The Never Ending Pile Of Lipsticks

I'm sure we all have one makeup item that we all just own a ridiculous amount of - too many to be exact. For me, that is lipstick. From liquid, crayon and regular lipsticks, I own enough that I could wear a different shade every day and it would take a few months to get through them all. When I was completing my #MakeupMonday post, I noticed I was using most of the same stuff every week. As someone with such an extensive collection, it is pretty shameful! So what to do with all these lipsticks...

Most of these lipsticks are a combination of gifts and what I've purchased myself either for a blog post, or just because I was really drawn to it. I also tend to hoard so I end up with a unnecessary amount.. with at least a couple in each shade! I've recently been going through my makeup drawers. I could not close the drawer without moving products into the wrong sections. As I was emptying everything out into organising bags, the lipstick bag was at least 3/4 full - and it was a fairly sized bag!

At the same time, I've decided pull out the makeup I want to use that week and keep it in a tray on my makeup table, and then switch it up every week. I thought this would also be the great opportunity to use more of my lipsticks. By only allowing myself to use a selection that I've set aside.

I want to take not of what I actually ended up using, and then at the end of the year, I will either give away or chuck any that I did not use.

Some Of The Lipsticks I Want To Use

e.l.f Cosmetics Liquid Matte Lipstick in Praline

This Liquid Matte Lipstick achieves a long lasting, gorgeous matte finish. The slim, diamond shaped applicator gives you flawless application in just one stroke! The formula is enriched with Vitamin E to help nourish and condition the lips.

I used this for a post last year but I honestly cannot remember if I've used it since. It is a really nice slightly cool-toned pink beige. 'Nude' liquid lipsticks are my most used, so using one that is not part of the usual gang should be interesting.

Laritzy Long Lasting Liquid Lipstick

A cult-favourite, this matte liquid lipstick instantly delivers long-lasting and intense pigment. This lipstick was formulated to be effortless, non-drying and water resistant so it won’t disappear after an hour. Each shade will adapt to you, so they’ll appear a bit different and look great on everyone. Go ahead, swipe it on.

As a lot of my everyday lipsticks are along similar shades, I wanted to have at least one proper pink version. Just like the e.l.f lipstick, I used this in a post but I don't think I've used it since. I've been wearing a lot more warm-toned lipsticks recently, so wearing pink will be a nice change.

Guerlain KissKiss Matte Hydrating Matte Lipstick

Guerlain imagines KissKiss Matte, a hydrating and plumping matte lipstick, intense like a lipstick and comfortable like a balm! The subtle spice extract it contains gives the impression of voluminous lips while the precious oil and the hyaluronic acid help to smooth and hydrate them. KissKiss Matte offers 15 captivating shades for all special occasions. The iconic packaging is adorned with a golden matte veil.

I'm not going to lie, a big part of this not being used is not wanting to ruin it. At the moment, the only red 'traditional' lipstick that I use is Ruby Woo. As this claims to be hydrating, it should be almost the exact opposite but still gives you the same finish. I am also intrigued about the hyaluronic acid as I've not tried it in makeup, only skincare.

Now available in 12 more statement-making shades, our velvety smooth Soft Matte Lip Cream delivers a burst of creamy colour and sets to a stunning matte finish. Long-lasting, lightweight and delightfully creamy, it’s no wonder this sweet-scented matte liquid lipstick is a fan favourite.

I own too many of these. I was given a gift set of minis, and then a selection of the metallic versions. I swear these make up at least a quarter of the collection. However I haven't actually used a lot of them, which is a shame as I really like the Soft Matte Lip Cream as a formula. I can't see myself wearing all of them, but I definitely want to try more of them.

Achieve effortlessly high coverage, satin soft lips in one swipe with Wonderwand Lipstick. Formulated with a unique blend of oils, this ultra-comfortable lipstick melts onto lips for saturated colour with a hint of shine.

This is another lipstick that I have been hesitant to use, however for this lipstick it is more of a formula thing. I am so used to matte formulas, especially with darker colours. I want to experiment more with what makeup I'm using, and I think this is a great opportunity.

Do you own too many of one beauty product?

  1. I'm exactly the same when it comes to lipstick, I have a huge stash that I never use. I blame the fact I don't really wear it much and on the occasions I do, I usually go for my favourite which is the Barry M Lip Kit. I'm always distracted by offers and pretty packaging and good reviews on stuff and buy them with the intention that I'll start wearing lipstick from now on but it never works! 😂 Although this has inspired me to give it another go so we'll see 😊
