#MakeupMonday - My Most Used Products 2019 Edition

A new year, and a new decade. Isn't that scary! The fact that in this decade I will be turning 30 is pretty scary - the age my mum was when I was born! In today's post, I will be revealing the most used makeup in my weekly #MakeupMonday posts on Instagram. I did this last year and I found it really interesting. As a makeup lover, I love trying out new products, but it is a true testament to a good product when you see how much you actually you use it.

A collection of beauty products and an iPhone showing an Instagram post

I will say that the products mentioned in this post, might not be the overall winners if I tallied up every time I wore makeup. I don't even want to think about how long that would take me to do! However a lot of these products will be, and also featured in last year's post.

Smashbox Primerizer, Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer, Joan Collins Timeless Beauty Foundation, Charlotte Tilbury Wonderglow

Face

(Last Year - Smashbox Primerizer)

Not very surprising is it. This is still one of my favourite primers. Whilst towards the end of the year, I started using the Benefit That Gal a lot more and put up quite a fight it was Primerizer that pulled through the win. It was also my winner from last year as well. I will constantly dip back into this, as it is a great instant hit of hydration. Also great for when I’m in a rush and can use as both moisturiser and primer.

Many beauty favourites come and go, but one concealer that always ends up creeping its way back in is Lasting Perfection. It is such a great concealer, and it is from the high-street. I’ve also been using the Natural Collection Correct and Conceal Stick a lot recently, but this is definitely something I will always go back too.

(Last Year - Joan Collins Timeless Beauty First Base Foundation)

It always feels a bit strange to include foundation, as it is something I wear so rarely. When I do, I tend to go between this and the Smashbox Studio Skin Hydrating Foundation. I haven’t been abroad this year, so the Smashbox has been a little dark to use so I’ve used the Joan Collins one more, both in these posts and overall.

(Last Year - MAC Strobe Cream)

When it comes to highlighting, I tend to prefer using an illuminator. What I like about Wonderglow is that it can be worn alone, or mixed with foundation. Whilst more intense illuminators provide a wonderful glow, if you aren’t wearing something over top, it looks very strange. However Wonderglow is a lot more subtle. I will say, I do not use illuminators that much, but this is the one I will go to the most when I do.

MAC Prep + Prime Translucent Finishing Powder, Benefit Hoola Bronzer, Benefit Dandelion Twinkle, NARS Super Orgasm

(Last Year - MAC Prep + Prime Transparent Finishing Powder)

Finally got around to finishing this powder! It is a great translucent powder, and clearly as it was also last year’s winner - you get your money’s worth out of it. Once it finished, I used the Joan Collins Timeless Beauty Meticulous Skin Perfecting Powder (I have it in the Compact Duo) and the Natural Collection Matte Pressed Powder. As I have yet to hit pan on either of these, I don’t think I’ll be repurchasing this for a while.

Would I Repurchase - Not right now

I recently wrote a blog post about getting to grips with powder highlighter, and one that is slowly changing my mind is Dandelion Twinkle. It is glowy, and the shimmer is subtle enough to avoid the highlighter stripe - cute for Instagram, not in real life. I have been using the travel size, but would happily purchase the full-size when this is finished.

(Last Year - Benefit GALifornia)

When I starting doing the tallying up for this post, I knew that it was going to be a contest between two - NARS Super Orgasm and Benefit GALifornia. Unsurprisingly these were first and second! I really like Super Orgasm, the shimmer/glitter does not leave you looking like a glitterball but adds a soft touch of pink with the odd sparkle.

(Last Year - Benefit Hoola)

Just like last year, Hoola pulls out the win for most used bronzer. However, surprisingly the race was a lot tighter than I initially thought. Hoola only beat The Beauty Crop, and St Moriz by three uses. Hoola is also available in more shades so more of you can enjoy the wonderful-ness that is Hoola. May I never be parted from you!

Smashbox Cali Contour Palette

When doing your face makeup, the only product you would need outside this palette would be concealer. It has everything else you need. As well as a face palette, this also works great for using as eyeshadow as well, as seen in one of my Five Product Face posts. It is definitely more on the warm side so it might not work for everyone. Also, the powder/matte highlight will not work on darker skin-tones. I think it is a great palette so I would love to see it expanded into more shades/tones.

NARS Smudge Proof Eyeshadow Base, Rimmel Magnif'eyes Spice Edition

Eyes

(Last Year - NARS Smudge Proof Eyeshadow Base)

Of course this is the winner. It is honestly one of the best makeup products I have ever used. To be honest, if I could only keep one item, and never purchase a dupe for it, it would be this. There is just nothing I have used that I have loved more. It lasts for ages, works with every eyeshadow I have tried. If you have hooded eyelids, or just have oilier eyelids, you need to try this.

(Last Year - Urban Decay Naked Heat)

This was another interesting battle to tally up. However I was not surprised that Spice Edition came up trumps. It is one of the best high-street eyeshadow palettes out there. What is hilarious is that last year’s winner was Urban Decay Naked Heat, and Spice Edition won this year. Spice Edition is a great high-street dupe for Naked Heat. And now it’s beaten it..

Benefit Roller Liner, Maybelline Snapscara, MAC Feline Eyeliner

When I started this post, I thought that Roller Liner was going to be the clear winner. However, it was actually extremely tight and only beat the ASOS Design Liquid Pen Eyeliner by two! Roller Liner is still my favourite felt-tip eyeliner, I am enjoying using the Ciaté London Fierce Flicks Eyeliner at the moment, but Roller Liner is the queen.

I mentioned this eyeliner in my top eyeliner picks post. It is super pigmented, lasts really well and also works great for smudging. I have had this for ages now and it is just as creamy as it was when I first got it. I also have a lot left, so it is worth spending the money. It is also really easy to apply to the upper lashline which is often quite fiddly.

(Last Year - Benefit They’re Real)

I really like this mascara. It applies really nicely, and is also really easy to remove in the evening. It is not surprising that behind Snapscara, is one of my all-time favourite mascaras, Benefit Roller Lash which I am currently using. If you are looking for a good high-street mascara, this is a great choice.

Manna Kadar Trifecta Bronzer

I will be honest and say that I don’t use single eyeshadows that often, however when I have it is usually this one. As it is intended as a bronzer, it blends out really nicely. It is a bit too dark and red-toned for myself to use as a bronzer, so I’m glad to get another use out of it. It leaves a nice terracotta warmth. It looks great with green/hazel eyes.

MAC Mocha, Maybelline SuperStay Matte Ink, Maybelline SuperStay Matte Ink Crayon in Lead The Way

Lips

(Last Year - MAC Mocha)

I was not surprised that Mocha ended up being one of the most used, and even though I did not expect a three-way tie, I am not surprised at the lipsticks in it. All three of these are great formulas for everyday lipstick. They all come in a variety of shades, so hopefully there is a great option for everyone. I also just realised that I don't have the picture does not include Clinique. This is why I only do this post once a year!

(Last Year - NARS Powermatte)

To be honest, any of my liquid lipsticks could have been the winner and I wouldn’t be surprised. Alongside the L’Oreal Rouge Signature Matte, this is one of the best liquid lipsticks (let alone high-street) that I’ve tried. I don’t think I have ever had to re-touch with this shade, or the red shade Pioneer.

NYX Suede Matte Lipliner, Pixi Shea Butter Lip Balm

I will be honest and say that these year, I have not been wearing lipliner as much as I used to. If I am wearing a bolder lip, then I have but generally I haven’t. I really like the Suede Matte Lipliners, they are easy to use and have so many shades that you should be able to match almost any lipstick shade pretty well. I’ve mostly used Lavender & Lace, or Peach Don’t Kill My Vibe.

(Last Year - Pixi Shea Butter Lip Balm)

As I mentioned last year, I definitely use this more as a lipstick than an actual lip balm. It provides a nice tint of colour, but is not the most moisturising. If you prefer a more natural look, or just need a quick pick-me-up lip colour, I would recommend these. However if you are looking for a proper lip balm, I would recommend NUXE Ultra Nourishing Lip Balm Rêve de Miel or Vaseline

First off, if you have made it to the end of the most, and read the entire thing word-for-word, I applaud you. Another reason why I will only do this once a year!

Have you tried any of these products?

  1. I love the Pixi lip balm! It smells amazing and it comes in such gorgeous colours. The Collection Concealer is also a firm favourite of mine too, it works brilliantly and it's such good value for money! I'm still wanting to try the NARS Orgasm Blusher as I've heard so many good things about it but I'm waiting for a good offer/deal on it!
