#MakeupMonday - My Most Used Products

If you follow me on Instagram, you might notice that there is at least one regular feature, every Monday I like to post what makeup I am wearing. Whilst I do like reading and watching monthly favourites, I feel like posting my makeup weekly gives a real insight into what I am using, loving and where my mind is with my makeup. As I started it last year, I thought I would do a round-up of what products I used the most and see how I feel about these products now, do I still use them and would I repurchase them. Be ready, it's a long one!

primer, smashbox, primerizer, nars, velvet matte foundation stick, concealer, foundation, joan collins timeless beauty, mac, illuminator, strobe cream
Face

I was not surprised that this was the most used primer. This is the best primer that I have tried. Ever. And I have tried quite a few. Backed up by top beauty influencers including Allana Davison and Anna Newton, I was so happy that this worked out. It is a little pricey at £30, but I have used it since September almost daily and I’ve still got about a quarter left.

Through a previous job, I was very lucky to attend some events with brands that gave us goody bags. This included NARS. Now NARS is one of my favourite brands, and at this event we were given a few shades of the Velvet Matte Foundation Stick. It is very full-coverage, so I did not use it for foundation, but I would use a little as a higher-coverage concealer and it worked well. As it was a bit thicker, it kept any eyeshadow I would put under my lash-line really well, but also lasted on its own very well.

Do I Still Use This: Occasionally, but only really if I can’t find my current concealer

Would I Repurchase: I don’t think so, its quite pricey.

I am not a regular foundation user, I don’t really need the coverage but I find for special occasions, it helps my makeup last a little longer as it has something else to adhere too. It is quite a full-coverage foundation, so I use a really small amount to blend out all over. I often will mix a little moisturiser, or foundation thinner.

Do I Still Use This: No. I have since tried the Smashbox Studio Skin, and it suits my skin a bit better at the moment

Would I Repurchase: Maybe

I have tried illuminators prior to owning this, but I would say that this was the first illuminator that I really liked, and helped me find my perfect way to apply all of them. I think this works great alone as primer, under foundation, mixed with foundation or just used as a liquid highlighter. I would love to try more of the other shades.

Do I Still Use This: Yes, I probably use my NARS 413 BLKR Illuminator a little more at the moment, but I would still happily use this.

Would I Repurchase: Yes. Probably one of the other shades to try first.

powder, mac, kate moss, rimmel, face palette, b'lighter, laqa & co, benefit, galifornia, hoola, bronzer, blush, highlighter

After trying this powder, I have decided I prefer a loose powder over the traditional pressed. I found this powder kept the shine away for the longest, but wasn’t too heavy for use under the eyes. It is also the best translucent powder. I’ve had others that are also white, but do not blend out as well to be fully translucent as this one. It also lasts a long time.

Rimmel is one of my favourite high-street brands, its super affordable and has some pretty decent products. This face palette is one of my favourite products, I think the three shades work nicely together on the face, or in combination with other brands. Out of the three, I use the blush the most, followed by the bronzer. I like the highlighter for the summer when I am tanned, but I don’t use it that much in the winter.

Do I Still Use This: Yes. I probably now use my Smashbox Cali Contour Palette a little more, but I still use this fairly regularly.

When it comes to highlighters, I found that I do prefer a cream formula, if I am not using an illuminator. This is a little pink as it is technically as blush and highlighter in one, so I would usually where it a little lower than I would put other highlights, but I really like how it looks on the skin. It is a great option for the warmer months.

Do I Still Use This: Not for a while, but I would still consider it

Would I Repurchase: Maybe. I’m more into my illuminators at the moment.

Shocker. I think Hoola might be one of the few products that could never leave my makeup collection. I just love it so much. For me, it works great as both a bronzer and a contour. Ugh. It’s just so good! Benefit also have brought out this in a lighter version, Hoola Lite, and are also now bringing out some darker shades! I’m glad that more brands are expanding their shade ranges, and not just in foundations and concealers.

I really like a peachy-pink blush. I think it matches my skin-tone well and just gives a lovely pop of colour to the face. I picked this up the summer of 2017 from Sephora whilst on holiday in Spain and I have still barely broken the surface. I do have the smaller size which does not have the glitter overlay but the colour itself, I still really like.

Eyes

Whilst this is a relatively new purchase, I don’t think I’ve done my makeup without it. It is the best eye primer I have tried. I have a slightly hooded eyes so I find shimmery eyeshadows can sometimes crease but with this primer, it stays put – without the need to set it first! Whilst it does come out white, it does blend out to be translucent on the eyelid.

I bought this for my first impressions of this brand, and it has become one of my most used from the brand. I will admit that it is not as pigmented as it looks in the pan, but it does leave a gorgeous shimmer across the eyelid. It applies better when using a damp brush, but even with a dry brush, it leaves a nice finish on the eyes.

This is one of my favourite eyeshadow palettes of all time. Whilst I still own the original, this is the Naked palette that I use the most. I just love a warm eyeshadow look at the moment. On most days, I will go between this palette and the Rimmel London Magnif’eyes Spice Palette. I’ve had this palette for two years and I am still not hit pan, even on my most used shades.

I quite liked this eyeliner. It does have a thicker tip, so it would not be for those who want a very thin line. I however wear my eyeliner quite thick so it’s not too much of a probably. This is drying out so I probably should throw it out but as a liquid eyeliner, I think it is pretty decent.

Do I Still Use This: Not really, as I mentioned above it is starting to really dry out

Would I Repurchase: At the moment, no, as I am really enjoying my ASOS and CYO felt-tip eyeliners

This is definitely one of the best high-street eyeliners I’ve ever tried. Super pigmented, easy to use and lasts really well. I like that this is a twist-up, I often find they more creamy, and you don’t have to worry out sharpening them.

Do I Still Use This: No – it ran out and at the moment I am using Feline by MAC

This is without a doubt one of my favourite mascaras that I have ever tried. I have said before that I have very short eyelashes so I’m never going to have huge, false-looking eyelashes but any mascara that gives me a little extra length and volume – I’ll take it. This gives me that, but also looks really natural but also works great when paired with other mascaras – I find using two mascaras often gives me the best look.

Do I Still Use This: No (dried up)

I was going to include brows, but as it is something I do so rarely, and I don’t have the two eyebrow products that were featured in these posts.

lip balm, pixi, mac, mocha, lipstick, liquid lipstick, nars, powermatte, american woman, lip pencil, maybelline

Lips

I very rarely put lipstick on without a lip pencil. I like this Maybelline one, for similar reasons as the NYX eyeliner, it’s a twist-up and super creamy. It is more on the pink side of a light nude but I find that it still works fine under lipsticks of slightly different shades.

No surprises here. Even though I’ve tried a lot of liquid lipsticks since I first tried the Powermattes, I still love using these. American Woman is my stand-out favourite – I even have a travel size of this now. It is a gorgeous dusty chestnut-rose and just looks so pretty! I hope this shade never gets discontinued, I could see myself repurchasing this for the rest of my life!

I love MAC lipsticks, great colours, great formulas and aren’t too expensive. Mocha is one of my most used lipsticks, not just from MAC. It is a great lazy day, ‘get up and go’ lipstick shades. It also compliments warm eyeshadow looks really nicely. I’ve recently added Taupe into my collection which is almost a mixture of Mocha and Whirl, but I will still use Mocha in the future.

Now although this was the most used lip balm in my Makeup Monday posts, it’s not really my most used lip balm for its actual purpose. I like to use the Pixi lip balm as a quick lip option, when I am feeling too lazy. It’s not a moisturising lip balm, like my NUXE Ultra nourishing Lip Balm RĂªve de Miel for example. But for a quick lip option, I like it!

Congratulations if you have made it to the end and read through the entire post - I love you! As I said, I post these every Monday, it will be interesting to see what I use most this year.

What are some of your most used makeup products?

    1. I've not tried anything from Tarte yet - other than their concealer controversy, the products sound really good!
