Corpse Bride
Last year, I had literally five minutes to turn her into the Corpse Bride. As I had no time, it didn’t turn out as polished as I would have liked, but it is an easy look to create so if you have a bit more time, it should turn out perfectly.
All you really need for this look is white, blue and black paint. I didn’t have any black paint so I just used eyeliner. For the base, mix some of the white and blue paint together and cover the entire face, neck and whatever else is on show. I would have preferred to have mine a little lighter but as I said, I had no time. For the blue and white paint, I was using Snazaroo Face Paint. Then with a smaller brush, I went under the eyes with the white paint, drawing a semi-circle (or at least trying), to give the illusion of a larger eye.
As the face paint had covered the eyebrows, I took a black liquid eyeliner to draw the cartoon like brows over top. I also used the eyeliner to create the eyelashes coming off the white semicircles. I can’t remember what exact eyeliner I used at the time, but one that I still have is the Joan Collins Timeless Beauty Frame Line Liquid Eyeliner.
For the lips, I used a dark purple lipstick. Again, I can’t remember what exactly I used but something like the NYX Professional Makeup Soft Matte Lip Cream in Brussels or Transylvania will work fine.
Like I said, if I had more time, I think it would have turned out a little less rushed but for five minutes, I don't think it is that bad!
Zombie
A few years ago my sister needed a last-minute Halloween costume which we had about an hour to create. We decided to go with Zombie Schoolgirl. Zombies are a great choice for a last minute look, adult or child as it doesn’t have to look perfect (as they are dead), and the costume is easy to create.
To give the death-like appearance to the skin, use a foundation that is at least one or two shades lighter than you or their skin tone. You could also do very pale blues or greens, but I felt like the ‘natural’ paleness worked better. I used the NARS Velvet Matte Foundation Stick in Mont Blanc.
To create the dead-like eyes, and bruises, I used a mixture of burgundyes, greens, blues and purples layered on top of each other. This is where you can be as messy as you like. I went all over the eyes and a few spots on the face. I used a combination of the Sleek i-Divine Eyeshadow Palette (Original) Palette, and my Urban Decay Naked Heat.
For the lips, I got my sister to scrunch up her lips, and coloured over it with a white eyeshadow pencil. You could also use the pale foundation again for this step. I used the NYX Professional Makeup Jumbo Eyeshadow Pencil in Milk. Then using a red liquid lipstick, I drew dropping lines of blood from her eyes and lips. Around the eyes, I put some extra eyeshadow underneath and drew the line from there to avoid it getting in her eyes. I used the NARS Powermatte Lip Pigment in Don’t Stop.
We had a lot of fun coming up with this look, we also backcombed her hair and splattered some of the liquid lipstick on her ripped shirt as well! Don't worry, it was an old school shirt!
I did a very last minute zombie look for my brother this year, but your one looks a bit better haha!
