My Skincare Routine - Back To Basics

Is anyone else getting confused with skincare? It feels like every month there is a new brand, ingredient, formula, trend - am I the only one who feels lost with what to use. I remember when I first starting 'learning' about skincare it was three steps: cleanse, tone, moisturise. Yet it feels like we should be using at least ten different products every morning and night. Skincare is one of the beauty routines that I am terrible at sticking to, especially in the evening. So I stripped back my routine, so it's quick, simple and I can remember it!


My Morning Routine

The main objective in my morning routine is probably very similar to a lot of people - getting it done as quick as possible. If I am heading to work, I like to give myself an hour from getting in the shower, to closing the front door behind me. I don't want to be spending fifteen minutes just putting skincare on. I can do my entire make-up routine in less than that. 

I do this routine whilst getting dressed, so each layer does get some time to sink in! Once I'm out of the shower after washing my face, I use the Simple Kind To Skin Soothing Facial Toner. It feels really nice on the skin, and doesn't leave my skin looking like all the moisture in my entire body, inside and out was taken away. 

I then apply a small bit of the Superdrug Vitamin E Eye Cream with my ring finger to my under-eyes. I will be honest and say that I haven't seen a real difference, but I love how it feels once I've done it. Finally I use the Superdrug Simply Pure Light Emulsion Moisturiser. It feels light on the skin, especially as it does have some SPF in it, and it sinks in quickly. If I was going to be out in direct sun all day, I would use a separate SPF, but for everyday I use just this. 


My Evening Routine

Like I said earlier, I am not great at sticking to the evening routine. I will get caught up doing something, or watching something and I'll just want to go straight to bed. I also hate the feeling of skincare against the pillow! So when I've remembered, and had time to do it. This is what I do.

The routine is essentially the same but with one additional product. At night I like to use the This Works Evening Detox Spray-On Exfoliant. Even before this, I would prefer to use exfoliators at night so I don't have to worry about if I have enough SPF on. All you do with this is spray some on a cotton-pad, and apply to the face. Easy. I then follow with the steps above.


Cleansers

This is the product that I am least specific on. I tend to be lazy with this and will just use whatever I have lying around. However, I am trying to use two cleansers at the moment. I've been using the Sukin Signature Foaming Facial Cleanser which I got in my July Birchbox. It is gentle, and is definitely not as drying as other foaming cleansers are. Not sure if I would repurchase the full size.

Whilst you are reading this post, I am on a weekend away in Devon and I bought a travel size of the Simple Kind to Skin Moisturising Face Wash. I love hydration and moisture in my skincare so I'm hoping this works out!
