Blogging Update - Summer Catch-Up

Back at the end of April, I posted a blog update. I mentioned that I had tried setting monthly goals, but I never found that I could complete them all. So instead I thought I would post an 'update' of where I am with my blog every four months. It is crazy to think that it has already been four months! The next time I post an update, it will be the end of the year. There is so much of blogging/creating content that stays behind the scenes so it is nice to share with everyone where you are at - it's like catching up with an old friend!

View Count

One thing that I have noticed is that the view counts on my blog posts have increased. Whilst I mainly write my content because of how much I love beauty, fashion and lifestyle, having a decent amount of views always helps. It not only could help you progress, but also lets you know that people are enjoying your content, and are likely to come back.

I share my blog posts through Twitter, and I include some RT-ing accounts. I’ve changed up what accounts I’ve been including, some new, some old and I think that has been a big contributor in helping me reach new audiences and increasing the numbers.

IGTV

In June I posted my first IGTV video. I share my makeup routine every Monday on my Instagram already so to go alongside that, I shared myself actually putting it on in the IGTV. I will be honest and say that I am not a huge fan of myself without makeup on, and without my glasses on. So the fact that I even shared a video (well actually three) with neither, impressed me a lot!

Since then, there has been a bit of a pause. I am still planning on creating content for IGTV, with a goal of posting at least one a week. I’ve got a few ideas in the works but I’m not sure when they will come to fruition. If anyone has any tips for creating video content, I’m all ears!

Gifted

One of my ‘achievements’ in the last blog update was that I did a gifted Instagram post. Last month I was kindly sent two products from the lovely team at Soap & Glory. Unlike last time, I was not asked to share on Instagram, I really like the products so I shared it anyway. Soap & Glory are such a great brand, and a brand I’ve used for years so to be sent product was pretty amazing. It might be superficial, but I think it is another marker to myself that my content is being noticed and that I am being noticed.

What I’m Working On Next

I am still continuing to work on a lot of the goals I set last time, growing my content, working with brands, the first thing I want to complete is my media kit. After reading Jenny In Neverland’s post on media kits, I decided that I should create my own. I am almost finished with it, and I’m hoping to share it soon.

What you have achieved recently?

Ellyn xx

  1. Always love reading updates from fellow bloggers! I'm glad that you're doing 'you' and not worrying too much about figures - we all get too hung up on those sometimes!

  4. Nice post. Sometimes we get lost in the numbers craze and forget to celebrate other small wins. For me, I can say I'm consistent with my content now more than ever, and I am also glad that I'm putting up content that can help, or inform people in one way or another.
