My Current Favourite Makeup Combinations

We all like a good combo. Ant & Dec, Salt & Pepper, Chips & Mayonnaise - but that one might just be me. A great makeup combination can also make a real difference to your makeup. I am no way skilled enough to be a professional makeup artist, but the following combinations have helped me really improve my makeup skills. So today I am writing about three of my current favourite makeup combinations, two on the face but also one on the lips.

I've mentioned before that I am not a huge foundation wearer, as I am lucky enough that I do not need a lot of coverage on my skin. However I have found over the years that for special occasions or important events, foundation helps the rest of my face makeup last even longer than with just primer alone. My current favourite foundation to use is the Smashbox Studio Skin Hydrating Foundation.

As I don't need a lot of coverage, I like to mix foundation with some kind of glowy base product, whether its an illuminator or primer. At the moment, I am really enjoying mixing it with the Charlotte Tilbury Wonderglow. It is thin enough that it doesn't create a huge gloopy mess, but its also not shimmery enough that my entire face looks like a disco ball.

Achieving the perfect glowy skin has been one of the hardest beauty tricks that I have tried to master. I have found that the best way to achieve it, and keep it looking the most natural is to use only cream or liquid products. I've had the LAQA & CO B-Lighter in Peacher's Daughter for a while now after recieving it in a Birchbox and it gives a really gorgeous glowy pop of colour on the cheeks.

With illuminators, I have quite a few that I use on rotation. At the moment, I am gravitating towards the BECCA Shimmering Skin Perfector in Opal. It gives a great glow but also provides a little extra colour as well. I would also like to try the Rose Gold shade as well.

I always like to line and fill in my lips with a lip pencil before putting up lipstick. I find it just helps give your lipstick that extra bit of longevity. As a lipstick lover, I do have quite a few different shades of lipstick, so I find having a selection of lip pencils is handy. My current most used lip pencil is the Lottie London Slay All Day Lip Pencil in Werk It!

I love MAC lipsticks, and my current favourite is Taupe. It is matte, but is not drying. Colourwise, it reminds me of if Whirl and Mocha had a baby. I think this is a great universal shade for so many different skin tones, from a classic nude to a darker nude. This matches really well with the Lottie lip pencil, and is my current favourite go-to lipstick.

So these are my current favourite makeup combinations. I think these might change over the next few months, and especially going into spring and summer. Let me know if this would something you would like to see more of.

What's your favourite makeup combination?

  3. I've got the Wonderglow and I used to love wearing it in combination with my Nars foundation when I wanted a nice dewy base.
