It has two sections, one is more compacted with individual stick-like things coming out of it and then you have a row of line. If the brush had more product in it, particularly the eye brushes, I would use it mostly on the smaller section as it could clean the brush a bit better. The other side is better for rinsing.
I prefer to use baby shampoo to clean my brushes as it is the most gentle, especially in comparison to soap. Also some specific cleaners for make-up brushes are either too expensive or for spot-cleaning only. I like Johnson's Baby Shampoo as it smells really nice and familiar and you could also get a travel size as well.
However in this case, I had run out baby shampoo to use and I had not yet repurchased any so I instead, used my LUSH 9 To 5 cleanser. It is a really gently cleanser and it actually cleaned my brushes really well! Just make sure you rinse it out really well.
The Birchbox tool is quite small so it does work better on eye brushes or small face brushes so I would love it if they brought it out in a larger size.
After I have rinsed all the brushes, I wrap them tightly in a towel over night and then if they are still a little damp in the morning, I will lightly dry them using the lowest heat and power setting on my hair dryer, making sure I do not get too close, particularly with the natural hair brushes.
So that's how I clean my make-up brushes! I know this was a short post but you cannot write new make-up posts with dirty brushes!
What do you use to clean your brushes?
That little tool looks so good! I got a Real Techniques brush cleaner for Christmas but I still haven't tested it out! I know it's bad but I'm so lazy when it comes to cleaning brushes!!

I am so bad as well!! This post literally came about because I needed to clean my brushes but I also needed to write a blog post haha!!
DeleteI have the same thing to clean mine! I'm so bad at cleaning mine though. I find it the thought of it such a chore but don't actually mind once I've got started. Hate waiting for them to dry though!

I am so bad when it comes to brush cleaning! I have a similar tool to that which works quite well! I am on the look out for a new brush cleaner though
ReplyDeleteI have thought about buying brush cleaners before but then I think, baby shampoo is so cheap and works just as well!

I'm such a lazy brush cleaner, I recently bought one of those brush eggs at Primark and they work really well.
ReplyDeleteGreat post!!

Same! If only you could clean make-up brushes with some kind of mini dishwasher thing, that would be amazing

I love using baby shampoo to clean my brushes, Trichomania solid shampoo bar from Lush is also supposed to be really good for cleaning your makeup brushes!

Solid shampoo sounds like a really good idea - a lot less wasteful or messy! Might have to try that!

Utilizing a brush that is too little will make your become flushed look like little stripes, and you unquestionably don't need that look! Makeup Brushes
ReplyDeleteI use this shampoo I got from Sally's when I used to have lilac hair. It smells sooo good. It's called ion and it's great!
