February Birchbox: Beauty Through The Decades

This month means it has been officially a year since I started writing up Birchbox posts! I have been loving sharing some new products every month and trying them out. For February, Birchbox is celebrating 'Beauty Through The Decades' and you could choose between three box designs each inspired by a different decade: the '70s, '80s or '90s. Although I am a huge 80s lover, I was born in 1995 and I just loved the design of the box so I chose the '90s box. It was all make-up and hair this month so let's have a look at what I got. I did receive this box last week but I had already scheduled the Valentine's Day content so I am posting it today so I have tried some of these products already.

February Birchbox Beauty Through The Decades - Life Of A Beauty Nerd
The Beauty Crop Eyeshadow Trio in Love You So Latte
There was one colour on everyone's eyes (and cheeks and lips) in the '90s - brown. Luckily, espresso-coloured shades have really stood the test of time as demonstrated by this coffee-inspired palette. Containing three earthy tones, these shadows are packed with coffee extracts to brighten.
I think this is a really cute mini eyeshadow palette. It is a great option for your travel make-up bag or make-up on-the-go. I have been really into shimmery eyeshadows recently and I think this is the perfect shimmer eyeshadow as it is not too intense and glittery and look beautiful on the lid. I have not heard of this brand before but I am tempted to try some more out.

LAQA & CO. Eyelighter in Co-Pilot
Just like a good pair of jeans, radiant skin and wide-awake eyes will never go out of style! Good news then - this creamy stick will help you achieve both in no time thanks to its beautifully pearly formula.
I will admit that the packaging on this is a bit flimsy but so far, I am actually enjoying the actual project. I have used it to brighten the inner corner but also as an eyeshadow base in Monday's makeup of the day Instagram post. It worked really well as a base for a lighter shimmery eyeshadow and made it stand out so much more. It is not as easy to apply in the inner corner but it is really easy to blend so it does not matter if you don't quite get it perfect.

Percy & Reed Quite Frankly Flawless Finishing Polish
Whether you were rocking poker straight strands or high ponytails secured with a scrunchie, the hairstyles of the 90s were all about that high shine finish. Today, this lightweight styler is packed with horse chestnut to keep your 'do in place without leaving it stiff or greasy, and sunflower wax for a gentle injection of moisture.
I have tried a few Percy & Reed hair products and I have loved each one I have tried. I am going out this weekend and I usually curl my hair for a night out so I am going to try this out to help keep the style looking good! It also smells really nice, it reminds me of men's cologne which I really love!

Luseta Coconut Milk Hair Mask
Teasing your 'do into throwback styles might be fun but, between the hairspray and backcombing, your hair will likely be left in need of a little TLC. Enter this nourishing treatment designed to repair and restructure. The mix of fatty acids and vitamins will leave your strands soft, silky and protected (even coloured hair!).
I always love hair products that are going to show some hydration love to my hair. I have recently been loving using hair products with coconut milk as I noticed a difference in how my hair felt. I might save this to use when washing my hair in the bath as you have to keep it on for at least five minutes and I don't want to be waiting around in the shower!

Laura Geller Double Take Baked Versatile Powder Foundation in Medium
Beautiful skin never goes out of style - it's totally timeless and, best of all, completely achievable! This unique formula has been beaked on a terracotta tile to lock in its long-wear finish so you won't have to fuss with touch-ups throughout the day.
I feel like Laura Geller was a popular brand when I first started watching make-up YouTube videos but I have never really seen it in the UK market. It does look a little too dark for my skin at the moment so I will probably save this for the summer when I have a bit more of a tan. I do like that it is a powder foundation as sometimes I find liquid foundations can be a bit too much.

So that's what I got in this month's box. As always I would love to know if you have tried any of these products and because of this month's theme, what is your favourite decade? Are you a '70s, '80s or '90s lover, or do you prefer a whole other decade!

Ellyn xx
