December Birchbox: Matthew Williamson X Birchbox

This is probably the most beautiful Birchbox I have had so far. This month's box design was in collaboration with the British fashion designer Matthew Williamson. I love the floral design on the box and the tray insert was a gorgeous metallic red - for me, the first time it hasn't been a matte finish! The theme for this month's box was 'Life's Little Treasures' and how to add some decadence to your day. I cannot wait to start using these products and I can definitely see many of these making a difference to my make-up, skin and hair life.

Pixi Shea Butter Lip Balm in Natural Rose
Looking for a lippie that adds just the right amount of colour without compromising on nourishment? We've found the solution! This hydrating balm is brimming with skin-friendly ingredients, like shea butter and vitamin E to care for your lips, while the flattering nude-pink shade adds a wash of pretty pigment.
In the last few weeks, I have wearing lip balm more than I've been wearing lipstick. At the start of November, I had two really painful mouth ulcers and on Friday I woke up with a winter cold so lip balm is my saviour at the moment. I really like Pixi as a brand and this balm have a bit of colour to it so it will save my lips but look like I did put some effort into the rest of my make-up.

Rituals The Ritual of Ayurveda Foaming Shower Gel
When we hop into the shower first thing in the morning or after an especially tough spin class, we just want to relax - even working up our body wash into a lather sounds like a lot of work. Fortunately, this foaming gel from Rituals does the work for us: It turns into a luxurious foam when it comes into contact with water. All we have to do is smooth it on for a skin-softening clean.
I actually chose this when I went up to the Birchbox pop-up shop on Carnaby Street and made my own box (post here). I love foaming shower gels and it is a great size for travelling and it is a lot more practical. I gave the other one I have of this to my mum as she travels a lot for work so she can have a nice shower gel to use rather than rubbish hotel ones.

Kebelo Clarifying Shampoo
Why wait for January to press the reset button? This detoxifying shampoo will treat your hair to a fresh start, right now. Use it just once or twice a month to sweep away product build-up and purify your scalp for a deep-down clean. Stressed-out strands will be restored and your hair will be left feeling soft and shiny.
I have a lot of hair, I've talked about that before. On an average hair washing day, I use shampoo, conditioner then at least three or four products before blow-drying. It's a lot. So to have a shampoo that is going to give my hair a good clean is always handy. Also, I don't like to use the same stuff every time as my hair can get used to them and not work as good as they used to. I haven't heard of this brand before but I'm always up for trying something new!

Nip + Fab Kale Fix Moisturiser
Green juices and kale salads aren't exactly things that we gravitate towards towards over the festive season - but that doesn't mean our skin can't! A superfood blend of kale, watercress, aloe vera, and almond oil, this comforting lotion delvers a healthy burst of vitamins and moisture to soothe and rejuvenate your skin.
This moisturiser has so many great ingredients and I can't wait to give it a whirl! I know lots of people like the skincare products from Nip + Fab so I am expecting good things. Like with haircare, I always think it is good to try new products and switch up your routine with them so you continue to see a difference. Also, with all the chocolate and mince pies coming our way during the festive season, it's probably good to give our skin the stuff it actually needs.

Spectrum Collections B04 Angled Blender Brush
Not only does this make-up brush complement the December Birchbox beautifully, it's an essential tool for creating a festive eye look. The perfect size and shape to fit the contour of your eyes, this synthetic brush can be used with powder or cream shadows to shade and define your eyelids for a foolproof smokey eye or simple wash of colour.
I really like all the Spectrum brushes that I have received through Birchbox so far so I am looking forward to trying this out! I don't have loads of eyeshadow brushes and I am currently switching between matte eyeshadow looks and shimmery ones and I am too lazy to clean my brushes every time - so if I have more brushes to use, I won't get any shimmer in my matte looks! I also love the contrast between the dark handle and the copper.

So that is what was in my Birchbox this month! I cannot believe that this is my last Birchbox post of 2017 - don't fret, they will be carrying on in the new year. As always, if you have tried any of the products, let me know your thoughts in the comments!

  1. I'd love to try that Pixi lip balm, I've never actually used anything by the brand before I don't think. Some great picks in this box :)

    1. It's not bad actually, I definitely feels more like a light matte lipstick than a balm but it looks really nice and adds a perfect amount to look like you actually made a some kind of an effort with make-up!
