September Birchbox - Sweet Simplicity

Even if you are not in school anymore, there is something about September which still makes us want to start fresh. I also still get the desire to run to WHSmith and pick up lots of stationary goodies. Watching bullet journal videos probably doesn't help! This idea of refresh and focusing is also the theme behind this month's Birchbox. When I saw my box this month I was very excited as all but one were brands I've tried before through Birchbox, and have enjoyed everything I've tried. However these are all new products so I am excited to give them a try! Let's see what was in my box this month!

When you hair’s in need of some TLC, this brilliant all-rounder is the answer. Strengthening, repairing and detangling, this spray is also great at taming flyaways, all the while nourishing and protecting your locks.

I did mention in my most recent hair post that I'm not using heat on my hair that much anymore, but when I do it is still so important to protect it. My hair also can get quite tangly, and any extra love is always a bonus. All Number 4 products are also gluten, sulphate, sodium chloride and paraben-free. I always like getting hair products because if you are going on holiday, you can essentially replicate your whole hair routine in products that won't take up your entire toiletries!

Even the most beloved classics can benefit (get it?) from the occasional twist. This poppy pink lip and cheek stain is an updated version of Benefit’s bestselling Benetint. From our morning coffee to our evening wind down, this long-lasting formula stays put. Once it’s on, it’s really on. This stain leaves our cheeks flushed and our lips petal pink for hours. The creamy gel looks opaque but goes on sheer.

Benefit is one of my all time favourite high end brands, alongside NARS. I tried their original BeneTint back in the day, but it was a lot more liquidly that this formula so I’m hoping to have more luck. When it comes to cheeks, I find powders work best together, and creams work best together and it can be hard to make a mixture of the two work. I’m interested to see what this can add to my cream cheek products.

This creamy highlighter subtly reflects light to make you look fresh-faced and radiant. The buildable champagne colour may seem pigmented in its tube but goes on lightly with an ever-so-slightly shimmery finish. It's perfect for cheekbones, brow bones and your cupid's bow (we love a multitasker!).

For getting the glow, I still find that liquids/creams are the easiest to work with. There is no stripes, and it doesn’t lay weirdly against concealer. I also love a gold/warmer hue with my highlighters as I think it suits me better. From testing it out on my hand, it dries much faster than my other liquid/cream highlighters so I think it could also work really nicely as a cream eyeshadow!

When we want to strip things back to basics and forget our lengthy skincare routine, we always reach for this gentle micellar water. Acting as a cleanser and a makeup remover, it's packed with aloe vera and glycerin to soothe and hydrate. Even better, it's completely rinse-free, so you'll be done in a few quick swipes of a cotton pad.

I was very excited to see this in the box. Longtime readers might remember my love for the Marcelle makeup remover, which is still the best makeup remover I’ve ever used. I also like to use Micellar water as well. At the moment for me, the best Micellar water I’ve tried is still Garnier, but given my love for Marcelle’s makeup remover, could their Micellar water put those both in the shadows? I can’t wait to find out!

Creamy, delicate and oh-so-smooth, this rose and lychee-scented cream leaves you softer (and sweeter!) than ever. Combining the irresistible aroma of natural rosewater with pampering lychee, the nourishing formula sinks in quickly to hydrate your skin without leaving a greasy film. Plus, it's 96% natural!

I own way too many body lotions. Yet I won’t turn another down - especially when it has rose in the name. I am obsessed with rose in my fragrances. I am also very obsessed with leopard print, so the packaging appeals to me too! I;ve been very impressed with the body lotions I’ve received through Birchbox before, so I am excited to try another.

Have you tried any of these products?

  2. I've only tried Sephora and Allure sub boxes. Curious to try Birchbox. The leopard print caught my eye too haha! Lychee + rose sounds like a great combo for body lotion!
