What Podcasts I'm Listening To

Podcasts were never something I used to listen too. The only person I knew who did was my mum, and it was a finance/business one. I didn't understand why you would want to listen to someone just talking, and not jamming inside your head to Disney. Yes, I listen to Disney music, and 80s... and 90s. I guess I thought that podcasts were boring and too grown-up, there wouldn't be one that would interest me.

However, that has changed and whilst I still rock out to The Lion King, I like listening to podcasts. I have found some that I really like and will listen to every week. In today's post, I thought I would share them with you!

‘At Home With…’ is the podcast series that’s part ‘Through The Keyhole' and part having a good ol’ catch-up on the sofa with your mates, brought to you by online content creators Lily Pebbles and Anna Newton. The two seasons of their chart-topping podcast see them interview a whole bevy of guests in the comfort of their own home; from trying Kombucha homemade by beauty industry royalty Liz Earle in her kitchen, to delving into Jo Elvin’s wardrobe - they really get stuck in. Want to hear them talk to cool women, who are doing cool s**t? Join them ‘At Home With…'

I am a big fan of Anna and Lily. I have been following their content for many years now and still regularly watch their videos, and read their blogs. I got to meet them last year at an event they hosted with Smashbox (see my blog post about that here) and they were so lovely. Back when they first launched their podcast, I automatically subscribed and listened to each episode as soon as they landed.

What I love about this podcast is that it is not recorded in a studio, as the title suggests, it is recorded on-the-go, in their guest's homes. It gives it a much more casual, and chatty vibe. They have had guests including other content creators, journalists and brand owners. Can we have season three already?!

A weekly pop-culture / news podcast brought to you by Dolly Alderton & Pandora Sykes - the former co-hosts of The Pandolly Podcast.

I have read The Sunday Times Style Magazine for many years, and when Dolly and Pandora launched their original podcast, The Pandolly Podcast, I listened to it every week. It not only featured chatty bits and news, Pandora also featured some fashion recommendations as well. The High Low is very similar, but I would say is more news based.

As well as interviews with authors and other guests, Dolly and Pandora regularly discuss the biggest new stories in the week, including the more hard-hitting. In the past they have discussed Harvey Weinstein and Shamima Begum. They also have a great friendship so whilst they are not afraid to talk about the tough subjects, there are also many funny moments to balance it out!

What makes a strong person to you? Bestselling author and personal trainer Alice Liveing interviews extraordinary women about the importance of building mental and physical resilience and how this can empower us to live happier, stronger lives.

If you are in need of some fitness inspiration, you need to check out Alice Liveing. Some of you might already know her through her Clean Eating Alice books. On her Instagram, she posts workouts and delicious looking food, which always looks delicious. I have only just started listening, as it is still a fairly new podcast but I am already enjoying it.

All the guests that she has had so far have such incredible and inspiring stories. I would recommend in particular the episode with Asma Elbadawi, the basketball player who successfully campaigned to lift the hijab ban in professional basketball. This podcast is also available on Spotify.

ʻA Little About A Lotʼ is a variety show where Kelsey and Becky spill the tea about their personal lives, talk the struggles of relationships and dating (Becky is married, and Kelsey is very much single), research their favourite celebs from the 90ʼs, answer audience questions, interview some badass people, and more!

Kelsey and Becky are otherwise known as The Sorry Girls. I first found them through the collaboration they did with Amanda Rach Lee when they re-did her lounge/dining area. Since then I have been obsessed with their videos. If you love watching room tours, room transformations, you need to check out their channel!

This is the newest addition to my podcast wardrobe. They've had a podcast for a while now but I recently saw it was on Spotify as well so I finally got around to listening to it. This is the most informal out of all these, but I love that. It just feels like you are in a conversation with your friends - even though you are not actually participating!

Do you have any favourite podcasts?

  4. I love listening to podcasts but hadn't heard of any of these, so I'm going to give them all a try. One of my favourites is the Rise podcast by Rachel Hollis.
