What's In My Travel Make-Up Bag: February 2018

As you are reading this post, I will be away with work and as I was thinking about what post to write up I thought I would do two posts about what I take with me when I am travelling. On this particular trip, I only want to take one toiletries bag as I am only away for two and a bit days. So I wanted to bring minimal products but also enough that I could change up my make-up from day to night without needing too many products. On Wednesday, I will post what actual toiletries I took with me, even though they will be kept in the same bag.

What's In My Travel Makeup Bag Feb 2018 - Life Of A Beauty Nerd
NYX Professional Makeup Total Control Drops Primer
I could not find this on the UK NYX website so I'm not sure if it is not sold yet or if it is an old product. I have been using this for a while now and I quite like it. It has a droplet-applicator which is a first for me, it can apply a bit too much product but that's more of an issue with getting used to how the applicator works.

NARS Velvet Matte Foundation Stick
If you read my last post, it is no surprise that this is in here. I have been obsessed with using this product as a foundation/concealer for all of my make-up routines: day, evening and speedy!

I would recommend this to everyone whether you want to use it for foundation, concealer, contouring - whatever! There is a huge shade range and you will be able to find some way for it to work for you! I also find it works great as an eyeshadow base both on the main eyelid and for applying eyeshadow under the lash line.

Joan Collins Timeless Beauty Compact Duo
I wanted to bring a powder with me that was going to be easy to transport and that I could also take with me if we are going out in the evening. This powder is great, the packaging is nice and slim and has room for a lipstick - it has been designed to fit the Joan Collins lipsticks but it does fit the lipsticks I am taking!

Benefit Cosmetics Hoola Bronzer
I could not go without my Hoola bronzer. I like using this for bronzer (duh!) and also as a transition shade when doing my eyeshadow. There isn't much else I can say about this that I have not said already!

Benefit Cosmetics GALifornia Blush
I thought about taking a few other blushes but as this is already a travel size, I thought I might as well take this! I bought this last summer from Sephora when on holiday in Spain. I like that it is completely matte - the smaller size does not have the glitter overlay that is on the original size and to be honest, I prefer it this way.

This is a great pigmented peach blush, perfect for adding that little bit of a flush!

Urban Decay Naked Palette
Of course I had to bring one of my Naked palettes with me - it was a tough choice, but I decided to take the original! These are great palettes to take when travelling, and especially if you will be going out during the day and the evening as there is a great selecition of shimmers, mattes and light and dark eyeshadows.

Although the Naked Heat has a few more mattes, I want to use more of my make-up so I chose to take the original - there is a good variety

Wunder Cosmetics Super Stay Liquid Eyeliner
This is my current every day eyeliner and I think it is really good. It stays incrediblely well and it does take a bit of elbow grease to get off - not enough that it is a nuisance to take off, it just shows how good this is at staying!

Eyeko Black Magic Mascara
I am pretty non-fuss when it comes to mascara and I decided that as this was a travel size, I might as well take it. I can't remember if I have used this before so if I like it a lot, I will try to include a review either on here or on Instagram!

NYX Soft Matte Lip Creams in Stockholm, Berlin and Barcelona
I did not want to take lots of different lipsticks but I still want to bring a few different lip options. This time I chose to take three smaller sizes of the NYX Soft Matte Lip Creams: Stockholm, Berlin and Barcelona.

I chose Stockholm as it is my favourite shade from this range, it is a gorgeous nude option. The other nude option that I chose is Berlin, I've never tried it before but it looks gorgeous and I love Berlin so I'm looking forward to trying this out! Now of course I had to bring a bold lip option so I chose the bold red Barcelona!

So this is what I have chosen to take with me in my travel make-up bag! Obviously I will be taking brushes but I decided not to include them in this post.

Let me know in the comments if you have tried any of these products and also what you take with you in your travel make-up bag!

  1. Loved this post, I always struggle with what makeup to take when travelling so I love to see what other people choose! I've never tried a stick foundation but I've heard great things about them so I might get some to test out as I know some drugstore brands have started doing some now! Urban Decay palettes are so good I'm not surprised you included that as your eyeshadow to take! I really want to try the Hoola bronzer I think I must be the only beauty blogger who hasn't tried it!

    1. They are really good - they are on the higher end price wise but I know both Barry M and Makeup Revolution are bringing out stick foundations so if you don't want to spend loads, they might be good ones to try!
