First Impressions - New In L'Oreal

One of the best things about interning for beauty teams in magazines is having a sneak peak of what is coming out. Obviously, I’ve taken full advantage of that and made a note of upcoming launches to keep an eye out for. This month, L’Oreal has brought out a selection of new products, and I wanted to get my hands on some of them to try out. So I trotted down to my local Boots and picked up three new products to try and give you my first impressions!

"Sign your lips in statement colour with new L’Oreal Paris Rouge Signature Liquid Lip Ink. Say goodbye to compromise- long-lasting no longer means thick, heavy and uncomfortable matte finish. The oil-in-water formula lets lips breathe, leaving a memorable mark but a forgettable feel for the ultimate all-day comfort. Every swipe will provide an instant pure colour statement that lasts with a soft-matte finish. With 12 on-trend shades from dusty greige to deep plum and pillar box red- every woman can sign her look with her own statement colour. With Rouge Signature, less is more. Less texture, more colour. Less excess, more impact!"

I saw a press release for these lipsticks during my internships and knew I wanted to get my hands on one. We all know I love a liquid lipstick! One of my favourite parts of the campaign is that every shade has been designed to suit every skin tone. There are 12 shades, all with very bold and inspiring names.

I picked up the shade I Am Worth It – first off, isn’t that just the perfect name! I wonder if it was intentional. I thought about choosing another colour but as this is the first one I have tried, I thought I would do the ultimate test with a red.

So far I really like it! The formula is more liquidy and does take a little while to dry, but don’t worry it does not run. Overall it felt really comfortable on the lips, and only started to smudge off after 2 big glasses of water and squash, a few Stroopwaffels, lunch and a cup of tea. I also really like the shape of the applicator, I would describe it as a diamond-shaped teardrop. Definitely going to try some more shades.

Whatever your concern; blemishes, dark circles, uneven skin tone, we’ve got you covered with our NEW More Than Concealer. With 25 shades in the range you can find the perfect one to brighten, correct, contour & highlight, that’s why it’s our More Than Concealer. An innovation from our labs, the high pigment elastic formula gives you the ultimate full coverage finish with a totally lightweight feel. Enjoy ultra long-wear with an undetectable finish that doesn’t crease or settle into fine lines.

Now this really is a full-coverage concealer. It is no wonder that L’Oreal say it can be used for contour and highlight as well. Also with 25 shades, this is the direction that high street brands need to be heading. Not everyone can afford the high price tags of high end brands who are more likely to have a better shade range.

I found even the lightest dab will provide you with enough coverage. I think this could easily work in a drag queen’s makeup bag. Girl, you’re gonna get your coverage.

Say goodbye to winged liner fails with NEW L’Oréal Paris Superliner Flash Cat liquid eyeliner, for intense black lines that last up to 24 hours. Now you can design your perfect lines with ease – thanks to the no-fail wing applicator that ensures your lines are always sharp and perfectly winged. Highly pigmented, waterproof formula that stays all day, without fading or smudging. Ultra-flexible felt tip brush for an easy, smooth-glide application.

This did not get off to the best start. Despite being in the sealed plastic, when I opened the eyeliner it turned out the lid was not on securely and had completely dried out. Sadly you cannot returned opened cosmetics in Boots, so I had to go out and purchase a new one. Thankfully this one worked.

Now the stamp does work. It is quite fiddly, but that might be down to the fact that my eyelids are a little hooded, especially at the outer corners. The wing it gave me was nice, would I use it everytime - not sure. The actual eyeliner was nice, it has a brush rather than a felt-tip which most of these eyeliner pens have. Overall I liked it, but it is still a bit of a gimmick.

So those are my first thoughts on these new products from L'Oreal. Let me know if you would like to see more of these 'new-in' style of posts!

Would you try any of these products?

  1. I would try the concealer because I have blemishes I want to cover. I also want something that is more affordable but matches my shade. Thank you for sharing!
