GRWM - Sparkle & Glow

As my regular Makeup Monday Instagram’s prove, I am very happy to stick with one look, and the same products. However for a recent party that I went to, I did change up some of the makeup, and I really have been enjoying how it turns out. Whilst it does feature some of my most used products, it also uses a few new products, and some old favourites. As I have worn this look a few times, I thought I would write a #GRWM, mixing up the old with the new!

This look is mostly focused on glowy skin, and sparkly eyes. Whilst it sounds like a traditional summer base, I think it is also a great look for winter, injecting some life into our skin – especially when its cold and rainy!

Face

Here we go with the broken record, I started with my Smashbox Primerizer. Was it ever going to be something else? Nope! This really helps start the glow process going, I like wearing this even without any extra highlighter or illuminator, gives a great natural glow. I’ve said before that I’m not big foundation wearer, I don’t really need the coverage (please don’t hate me) but I do find that it can help other base makeup last a little longer as it has something else to adhere too.

At the moment I have been mixing the Smashbox Studio Skin Hydrating Foundation with the Charlotte Tilbury Wonderglow which helps to thin out the foundation, but still adding to the glow-fest.

For concealer, I have been using the HD Brows Pro Fix Concealer. I was sent three shades to share on Instagram, and I genuinely have been using it pretty much every time I have done my makeup. A little goes a long way, I find a quarter of a pea-sized amount is enough for me.

As the skin was all about the glow, I of course had to use some illuminator. I decided to go with my Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector Liquid Highlighter in Opal, patting it onto my cheekbones to get the most natural effect. Then to add more glow and colour to the cheeks, I used the LAQA&CO B'Lighter in Peacher's Daughter.

Eyes

As I am not a huge fan of gloss, the main area to feature any sparkle is on the eyes. Of course, I had to start with my NARS Smudgeproof Eyeshadow Base. Best eye primer I have ever tried. It also comes in a tinted version now.

I am still using my Rimmel Magnif'eyes Spice Palette almost every time, and I wanted the sparkly eye to have a warm base. I went with my usual shade (fourth from left) all across the lid and into the crease. I would say that this is very similar to the Urban Decay Naked Heat, if slightly browner. I would really recommend this palette.

To add the sparkle, I used the Manna Kadar Diamond Dust in Enchanted, a gorgeous copper. It has a rollerball applicator, which could scream messiness but its actually quite easy to apply. It can be worn alone, but I love how it adds some sparkle to any eyeshadow. It is also really fine so you can use a lot without it getting too much.

Of course, I had to do my usual eyeliner with my ASOS Design Liquid Pen Eyeliner, this works great over shimmery or matte eyeshadows of any colour!

I've mentioned before that I find using two mascaras gives my eyelashes the most length and volume that they can get - I would wear falsies, but I have glasses and they just get in the way! The combination I chose was Benefit Rollerlash and C.Y.O Eye High Length

Lips

Whilst this look was based around sparkles and glow, one place that I am not a fan of it appearing is on the lips. I am a matte (or satin) girl for the win! I lined my lips with the Lottie London Slay All Day Lip Pencil in Werk It and then used my MAC Lipstick in Taupe. Taupe is my current favourite everyday lipstick.. its so nice!

I really liked how this look turned out, I can see myself wearing this look a lot in the future!

Do you love a bit of sparkle?

Ellyn xx
