A Quick & Simple Work Make-Up Look

Every so often, I create a new everyday make-up look. In the last few months, I have been experimenting with bolder eyes and shimmery textures. However I've started a new job, so I've been going for a slightly smarter eye look. Now I am not a professional make-up artist, but it does give me a day-time smokey eye feel. You might notice that this look features all higher-end brands and mostly MAC. However, you could definitely re-create this make-up look with drugstore brands as it doesn't feature any brand-specific colours. As I am white, this make-up look might not work on darker skin-tones but the main eyeshadow in this look could be used instead as a natural no-makeup look.

I started off using MAC Strobe Cream instead of a primer. So far I am really impressed with this. It gives a glow to the skin, but the skin does not look shimmery or sparkly.

For the eyes, after applying some concealer to act as a base, I blended some of the Benefit Cosmetics Hoola Bronzer through the crease as a transition shade. The rest of the eyeshadow comes from the Kryolan 5 Colour Eyeshadow Palette in Muscat.

I took the second darkest shade (Maroon) and applied it all over the lid. You can build up the layers, depending on how intense you want the look. I then took the blending brush I used for the Hoola bronzer, and blended out the lines. Using the lighter shades, I highlighted the brow.

I then lined my waterline with MAC Coffee Eyeliner, and did my usual cat-eyeliner on my top lashline with my Eyeko Skinny Liquid Eyeliner (which I forgot to include in the picture). Afterwards. I used my favourite Benefit Cosmetics They'Re Real mascara. I also lightly blended some of the Maroon eyeshadow under my eyes as well.

For the rest of my face, I did my usual concealing with the NARS Velvet Matte Foundation Stick and set it with the MAC Prep + Prime Transparent Finishing Powder. I used the Hoola bronzer again to lighlty warm up my face, and followed with the GALifornia blush. I then set the rest of my face.

For lips, I lined them first with the MAC Lip Pencil in Soar, and then used my favourite NARS Powermatte Lip Pigment in American Woman.

So that's the make-up look that I've been wearing recently. It is so simple, but looks really nice. For some, this might work better as an evening look but I still think it is light enough on paler skin-tones to work during the day.

Let me know if you try it out!
