My Morning Routine

Some of my favourite videos to watch on YouTube are morning routines, I find them really relaxing. Now although I do not have my own channel, I thought I would write up my morning routine. I go through this routine every day and I can get it done within 45 minutes. This was a surprisingly difficult post to write up as it felt like every other sentence I was starting with either 'then' or 'after that' so if it feels a little bit repetitive, I am sorry! Other than that, I hope you guys enjoy this post.

My Morning Routine - Life Of A Beauty Nerd
I am not a person who can get straight out of bed when the alarm goes off so I set a first alarm to go off at least an hour before I have to get up. This gives me time to wake up and peruse my social media apps or if I have to travel somewhere, check if there has been any problems.

If I have to leave within the hour to go somewhere, I will head straight to the shower first. I like to shower in the morning as it helps me feel more awake and I do not trust showering at night keeping me clean for the next day.

After I have had my shower, I go and wash my face. Whilst I was at university, I did wash my face in the shower but it really is not good for your skin so fill up the sink with warm (not hot) water beforehand if you are in a rush.

I will then get dressed and do the rest of my morning skincare routine - by the way, I have been using the Lumene moisturiser from my Birchbox I made at the pop-up shop and it is amazing!

It's now time for breakfast!

Most days I will stick to the good old Weetabix, but on some days and often on the weekend, I have been having porridge made with coconut milk topped with banana and cinnamon. Alongside my breakfast of course, a good cup of tea!

After I have finished my food, I head back upstairs to brush my teeth and use mouthwash and then I do my make-up.

I start by priming my skin with the L'Oreal Infallible Mattifying Primer and then blend some concealer onto the lid as an eye primer.

I lightly set the concealer with some powder and then move on to eyeshadows. I am still loving my Urban Decay Naked Heat palette so most of my eye look comes from this palette. I start with the shade Sauced as my transition crease shade, then on a denser brush I use Low Blow to deepen the crease. I then apply the shade Chaser all over the lid.

Using an even denser eyeshadow brush, I use a mixture of the two dark brown shades from my Kryolan Shades 5 Colours Eyeshadow Palette in Muscat in the outer corner.

I then do my usual cat eyeliner and then go back to finishing my base. Recently, I have been taking the cream highlighter from my Sleek Highlighter Palette in Solstice and apply it between where I would place highlighter and blush.

I contour and bronze with my Benefit Hoola Bronzer and then apply blush and powder highlighter. I then use my Rimmel Insta Fix and Matte Powder to set my make-up. I then use mascara and whatever lip product I want to use that day.

After I have finished doing my make-up and re-done my ponytail for the day (my hair is rarely not in a ponytail, apply perfume and then I am done!

Depending on what I have to do that day, I will either pack a bag and head out the door, potter around for a bit or set up my desk for working at home.

So that is my morning routine! The routine doesn't really change much on the weekend, except for the order and I take much more time to do it all. I hope you enjoyed reading this post and I would love to hear what your morning routines are so let me know in the comments.
