Summer Morning Routine

It's been a while since I've done a morning routine post. I'm now back at a 9-5 job so I need to keep a regular routine so I get all my beauty routine done. As I said in my previous morning routine, the products I use may change on a daily basis, but this is what I used to day and have been loving recently. In this post, I will be showing you the skincare and make-up steps that I follow to be ready for the day. I will also be sharing with you one of my favourite outfits that I've been wearing recently. Let's get on with the routine.

Skincare

The first thing I do in the morning, is head to the shower. I start my skincare routine as soon as I get out of the shower, starting with washing my face. At the moment, I have switching between the L'Oreal Paris Pure Clay Purity Foam Wash and the NUXE Micro-Exfoliating Purifying Gel Daily Use Aquabella cleansers. I like both, I like the hydrating feel of the NUXE cleanser but it has micro-beads which are bad for the environment so I try to use it less often, and only when I feel my skin needs it. If you have any recommendations for hydrating cleansers, let me know.

The rest of my skincare routine continues when I've got back to getting dressed. As soon as I get back to my room, I use some of the Pixi Glow Tonic on a cotton pad, and smooth it over my face, avoiding the eye area. Whilst that dries, I will choose what I'm wearing for the day. I will then apply my moisturiser, at the moment I am using the classic Simple Kind to Skin Hydrating Light Moisturiser. As it is summertime, and especially since I used the Glow Tonic, before I go downstairs, I have been applying an SPF. I received the Polaar Velvety Sun Fluid Face & Body SPF30 in my most recent Birchbox and I have been enjoying using it so far, it feels nice and light on the skin.

In the warmer months, I might treat myself to a smoothie bowl on the weekend, but during the working week, I will mostly stick to the classic Weetabix.

Makeup
I always start my make-up with some kind of primer. Today, I went with the last few drops of my NYX Professional Makeup Total Control Drop Primer. After priming the eyelids with concealer, I start by applying a transition shade to the crease. For this, I used my Benefit Cosmetics Hoola Bronzer. For the rest of my eye make-up, I used the Joan Collins Timeless Beauty Eyeshadow Quad in Moody Browns & Gold - I put the lightest shade all over the lid, mid-tone brown in the crease, and the darkest brown in the outer corner. Of course I had to do my usual liquid eyeliner, today I used the Eyeko Skinny Liquid Eyeliner. Although I do this after concealer, I apply They're Real mascara.

Before putting on concealer, I apply some MAC Strobe Cream to my cheekbones. Sometimes I use it all over, but today I just concentrated on the cheekbones. I then applied my NARS Velvet Matte Foundation Stick to my under-eyes. Used Hoola again for its proper purpose, bronzing, and then applying some GALifornia blush. To finish of the face, I lightly set the under-eye and T-Zone with some MAC Prep + Prime Transparent Finishing Powder.

To finish the look, I first lined my lips with the Rimmel London Lasting Finish 1000 Kisses Lip Liner in Red Dynamite, then finished with NYX Professional Makeup Soft Matte Metallic Lip Cream in Monte Carlo.

Outfit
Jacket: Noisy May
Top: H&M
Trousers: H&M
Shoes: Primark
Outfit
I bought a few new pairs of wide-leg trousers recently, and I am obsessed. They work for both smart and casual outfits and are perfect for the summer, as they are nice and breezy. These striped ones from H&M are my current favourites!

I am also loving these new low-block heeled sandals from Primark. They are comfortable, and have helped add an extra smartness to my outfits.

So that was my morning routine! How do you get ready in the morning, do you have a specific routine or do you just go with the flow!

  1. Loving the routine. I've never used any of the L'oreal skincare products but will have to give it a try. I tend to switch up my skincare during the summer too. Come take a look at what I use on my blog BeautyBiche.blogspot.com
